
SFA Tennis Drops Two Straight on the Road

CORPUS CHRISTI and SAN ANTONIO - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team dropped two straight Southland Conference matches over the weekend at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas-San Antonio. The Ladyjacks fell to the Islanders, 6-1, and were swept, 7-0, by the Roadrunners. SFA falls to 3-9 overall and 0-4 in SLC play.
At Corpus Christi, Roxana Enica defeated Carmen Abeaboeru, 6-4, 6-4, to win her fifth No. 1 singles decision in six matches. Enica was defeated by UTSA's Nathalie Wallin, 6-4, 6-1, to break Enica's four-match win streak.
Also at Corpus Christi, Mary Harrison and Lauren Nowicki defeated Amanda Brahim and Alexandra Valarezo 8-4 in No. 3 doubles, but the Islanders took the other two doubles points to win the doubles portion of the match.
The Ladyjacks will return to the court Friday against conference newcomer Central Arkansas at noon from the SFA Tennis Complex. SFA will then host Northwestern State Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
