Six Players Named Honorable Mention All-SLC

FRISCO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team placed six athletes on the 2007 All-Southland Conference team announced league officials Tuesday morning. Offensive linemen Taylor Cobb, Scott Dover and Brock Pasteur, defensive end Tim Knicky, wide receiver Aaron Rhea and punter Ryan Gooch all received honorable mention honors.
It marked the second consecutive honor for Cobb and Pasteur, who finished their junior campaigns earning second-team recognition. Knicky also received his second consecutive honor from the league.
Cobb, Pasteur and Dover were mainstays on the Lumberjack offensive line, recording 33 starts between them in 2007. Their presence up front was critical helping the progress of true freshmen quarterbacks Jeremy Moses and Jeremy Claybon.
An emotional leader on the Lumberjack defense, Knicky finished fourth on the squad with 60 tackles, including 21 unassisted stops. He finished second in the league to SLC Player of the Year Bryan Smith with 15 tackles for losses, and was among the league leaders in sacks.
Gooch received honorable mention honors for the second time in his career. A 2005 honoree, Gooch has been a model of consistency throughout his time at SFA. He recorded the best season of his career averaging 39.5 yards per punt, and pinning his opponent inside the 20-yard line 15 times. Gooch recorded a school-record 80-yard punt in the season finale at Northwestern State.
A sophomore, Rhea received his first honor on the All-SLC squad. He recorded a breakout season in 2007 finishing second on the team with 31 catches for 496 yards, but lead the team with four touchdown receptions.
Rhea stepped into the spotlight at Texas State where he hauled in six passes for a career-high 176 yards and two touchdowns. His 176-yard game marked the nine-best single-game performance in school history.
