FRISCO, Texas - Sophomore linebacker Damian Perkins was named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Arizona announced league officials Monday afternoon. It is the first league honor in Perkins' young career.
Perkins was a key figure in the Lumberjacks' upset-bid in Tucson, Ariz., Saturday. He was involved in 23 defensive stops for the Lumberjacks, finishing the game with 10 solo tackles. Perkins also made a nice, diving grab to record his first career interception.
The Lumberjacks return to action Saturday when they host Central Arkansas. The game against the Bears is slated to begin at 6 p.m., from Homer Bryce Stadium.
