
Lumberjacks Fall in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. - A valiant effort by the SFA Lumberjack football team fell short Saturday in Tucson, Ariz., as the Wildcats held on for a 28-10 victory at Arizona Stadium. The loss drops SFA to 0-3 on the season.
After falling behind 7-0, SFA scored a touchdown on two-yard run by junior Louie Runnels to tie the game at 7 with 10:03 remaining in the second quarter. The Lumberjacks were right back on the attack just over four minutes later when sophomore Cory Long knocked home a 37-yard field goal to give the 'Jacks a three-point lead, 10-7.
The lead lasted only four minutes as Arizona scored the final points of the half with a touchdown run from Adam Austin. The Wildcats held the four-point advantage until the fourth quarter when they posted 14 unanswered points to ice the victory.
Junior quarterback Danny Southall finished the game 15-of-25 for 110 yards. He also led the 'Jacks with eight carries for 45 yards.
The Lumberjacks finished the game with 196 yards of total offense, while the Wildcats recorded 407 yards of total offense.
SFA returns to action Saturday, Sept. 23, when it hosts Central Arkansas at Homer Bryce Stadium. The game is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
