
'Jacks 15th at Mid Pines Intercollegiate

PINEHURST, N.C. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team is 15th overall after the first day of competition at the Mid Pines Intercollegiate hosted by UNC Greensboro. The 'Jacks shot a two-round score of 295-298 - 593 Monday afternoon.
The Lumberjacks were led by junior Chad Spencer who shot a 75-73 - 148 to finish the day tied for 45th. Sophomore Josh Irving and freshmen Matthew Oates and Richard Wilkenfeld are only a stroke off Spencer's pace after Monday's competition. Irving shot a 73-76 - 149, while Oates recorded rounds of 74 and 75. Texas City freshman Richard Wilkenfeld shot a 73-76 - 149. The Lumberjack trio is currently tied for 55th overall. Senior James Winkley struggled in the first round recording a nine-over par 81, but battled back in the second round with a two-over 74 to finish the day at 155. He is currently tied for 76th overall.
The Lumberjacks will return to the coarse Tuesday morning for the final round of the tournament. Tuesday's action is slated to begin at 8:45 (7:45 east Texas time) a.m.
