
Southall Dominant During Monday Workout

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team returned to its practice schedule Monday after a relatively light Sunday schedule. The 'Jacks participated in their fourth two-a-day practice of the 2006 fall schedule, working out on the practice fields during the morning session and returning to Homer Bryce Stadium for the evening session.
Junior quarterback Danny Southall continued his impressive fall camp Monday night with another aerial assault. Southall completed 11-of-13 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns. The 6-2, 213-pound signal caller from Hitchcock connected with freshman Contrevious Parks and sophomore Dominique Edison for touchdown passes of 40 yards. Southall also recorded a 40-yard TD scamper.
Redshirt freshman Clint Bricker finished the practice completing all three of his pass attempts for 31 yards. The Lumberjack quarterbacks connected with nine different targets.
Senior tailback Jerome Brooks recorded two carries for 32 yards, while preseason first-team all-conference selection Louie Runnels recorded 12 yards on two carries. Redshirt freshman Vincent Pervis came out of the backfield to catch two passes for 27 yards.
The Lumberjacks will return to the practice field Tuesday morning for an 8:15 a.m. workout. SFA will spend the rest of the afternoon in team meetings before heading to the Fredonia Hotel to meet with fans at the annual `Meet the 'Jacks.'
Notes: The Lumberjacks will hold the annual `Meet the 'Jacks' Tuesday evening at the Fredonia Hotel. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., and tickets are $10. Tickets can be purchased from Fredonia Rotary members and participating local banks.
