
SFA Softball Sweeps McNeese State

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks finished their sweep of the McNeese State Cowgirls Sunday, taking a 5-1 win at Cowgirl Diamond. The win increases the Ladyjacks Southland Conference record to 4-8 and their overall record to 12-20.
After a scoreless first inning, Julie Morse hit a one-out single and advanced to second on a single by Nicole Carter. Tara Hersey then hit a home run to put the Ladyjacks ahead, 3-0.
McNeese State answered with their lone run of the ballgame when Jenny Clay hit a home run off of SFA's Traci Moore.
In the Ladyjack sixth, Carrie Woydziak hit a two-RBI double to make the score 5-3.
Morse, Hersey and Jessica Tullos each went 2-for-4. Hersey had three RBI and two runs scored and Morse also had a run scored.
Nicole Carter made a relief appearance in the fourth inning and took the win to make her record 3-7.
SFA will return home to face Nicholls State in Southland Conference action on Saturday, April 8 at Hoya Field. The doubleheader is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
