
SFA Finishes Seventh at SLCs

KINGWOOD, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team held on for seventh place in the Southland Conference Championships, after shooting a team score of 305 in Wednesday's final round. Senior Brian Grossman carded his second consecutive 75 to finish tied for seventh in the individual standings. Lamar won the tournament.
Grossman opened with a 69 on Monday and closed with 75s in the second and third rounds to lead the Lumberjacks in his final collegiate tournament. Classmate Jason Landry had the next-best outing. He shot 77 in each of the first rounds and turned in a 73 on Wednesday to finish tied for 27th. Freshman Josh Irving shot an 80 in the final round to end the tournament tied for 29th. Junior James Winkley rounded out his play with a third-round 77, and freshman Jonathan Porter shot an 81 on Wednesday to end the tournament in 50th place.
The SLC Championships marks the final scheduled event for the Lumberjack golf team this spring.
