
`Jacks Drop Third Game Against ULM

MONROE, La. - For the second consecutive day, the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team recorded double-figure hits but lost to Louisiana-Monroe, 16-7. The 'Jacks are now 4-16 (.200) overall and 1-5 (.200) in Southland Conference play.
The Indians jumped out to an 8-0 lead after three innings, but the Lumberjacks mounted a rally in the top half of the fourth inning. SFA scored seven runs in the fourth on four hits and two walks. The big blow came off the bat of Chase Sadler, who capped the inning with a grand slam. Sadler's third home run of the season pulled the 'Jacks to within two runs, 9-7. The Lumberjacks were unable to mount another rally, as ULM added four runs in the seventh and three in the third.
Sophomore David Miller got the start but was only able to go two innings. Sadler finished the game 1-for-4 with a home run and the four runs batted in. Catcher Steven Hill went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Junior Clay Britton and sophomore Buck Britton each finished the game with a couple of hits.
SFA returns to action Tuesday when it returns home to face Dallas Baptist. The game against the Patriots is slated to begin at 2 p.m. at Jaycees Field.
