
Ladyjacks Fall to Sam Houston State

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team managed only three hits Sunday afternoon falling to Sam Houston State, 5-1, in Huntsville. The loss dropped SFA to 8-13 overall and 1-5 in Southland Conference play.
The Bearkats jumped out to a four-run lead heading into the top of the sixth. The Ladyjacks cracked the scoreboard in the top of the sixth when Jessica Tullos led off the inning with a home run. SFA got its next two runners aboard, but failed to bring them around.
Sam Houston State closed out the scoring by tacking on a run in the bottom of the sixth to sweep the series. The Bearkats improved to 10-12 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.
Tullos finished the game 1-of-2, with a home run and an RBI. SFA starter Kari Hugie went six innings giving up 10 hits and four earned runs. She also struck out one batter.
The Ladyjacks return to action Tuesday when they travel to Oxford, Miss., to face Mississippi in a doubleheader. The first game of the doubleheader is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
