
SFA Tennis Defeats Tyler Junior College

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team recorded four singles victories to defeat Tyler Junior College, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon at the SFA Tennis Complex in Nacogdoches. The victory improved the Ladyjacks overall record to 4-3 (.571) on the season.
The Lady Apaches won all three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead, but the Ladyjacks fought right back in the match in singles play. Junior Laura Harrison and senior Kama Scott recorded wins at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, to give the Ladyjacks a one-point lead.
TJC tied the match at 2 after recording a singles win at No. 3 singles, but junior Lauren Nowicki gave the Ladyjacks back a one-point advantage with her 6-1, 6-0, victory over the Lady Apaches' Rachel Anders at No. 4 singles. Freshman Gabriel Gadeva wrapped up the win with her three-set victory at No. 5 singles.
The Ladyjacks return to action Thursday when they travel to Huntsville, Texas to open Southland Conference play against Sam Houston State. The match against the Bearkats will begin at 1 p.m.
