
Ladyjacks Sixth at Texas A&M Shows

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack equestrian team finished sixth in a pair of hunt seat shows at Texas A&M, over the weekend. The Ladyjacks scored 13 points on Saturday and compiled 18 points Sunday in the two Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competitions held at the N.W. "Dick" Freeman Arena.
The highlight of the weekend individually for SFA was Amy Hilfer's performance in the walk trot division. Hilfer took third place in walk trot, section 1 on Saturday and recorded a fifth-place finish in walk trot, section 2 at Sunday's show. Hilfer's performance helped her qualify for the IHSA regional competition.
Paige Wiley joined Hilfer with a third-place finish on Day 1. Wiley took the No. 3 spot in advanced walk trot canter, section 1. Cindy Hinojosa took fourth place in section 3 of novice flat, and Kristine Rice finished fourth in advanced walk trot canter, section 2. Catherine Brennan and Alex Berry turned in fifth-place finishes in novice fences, section 1 and open flat, section 1, respectively. Berry also took sixth place in section 1 of open fences. Rebecca Harrison was sixth in open flat, section 3, and Haley Crane finished sixth in section 3 of walk trot canter.
Rice turned in a first-place finish for the Ladyjacks on Day 2, when she won advanced walk trot canter, Section 2. SFA also posted five third-place finishes on the second day of competition. Alex Fincher took third in open fences, section 2, Berry was third in section 4 of open fences and Brennan finished third in novice flat, section 3. Crane took third place in section 1 of advanced walk trot canter, and Wiley recorded her second Top 3 performance of the weekend with a third-place finish in advanced walk trot canter, section 3. Berry finished fourth in open flat, section 4. Brennan was sixth in novice fences, section 2, Hinojosa took sixth in novice flat, section 2, and Fincher finished sixth in open flat, section 3.
SFA will return to Texas A&M on March 4 for a pair of western IHSA shows.
