'Jacks Finish Ninth at Battle on the Bend

MANY, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team moved up one spot Tuesday afternoon to finish ninth at the rain-shortened Battle on the Bend. Freshman Ricky Wikenfeld tied for the team's best final round score with a three-over par 75 to lead the 'Jacks. He finished tied for 45th overall.
Junior Chad Spencer led SFA with his two-round score of 75-78 - 153 to finish tied for 35th overall. Sophomore Josh Irving finished one stroke back of Spencer with a 79-75 - 154. Irving finished tied for 37th overall. Freshman Matthew Oates finished the tournament with a two-round score of 78-79 - 157 to finish tied for 45th overall. Sophomore Johnathan Porter was a stroke back of Oates with an 82-76 - 158 to finish tied for 49th overall.
The 'Jacks will have an extended break before they return to action during the spring semester. SFA will be back in action Friday, Feb. 16 at the Rice Intercollegiate in Houston, Texas.
