
Ladyjacks Top Delaware State

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Led by a dominant performance in the flat competition, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack equestrian team rode to its second straight victory of the season, defeating Delaware State, 5-1, Saturday at the Walter C. Todd Agricultural Research and Equine Center. The show was conducted in the NCAA Varsity head-to-head format, but included only the hunt seat portion of the competition.
Ladyjack riders Alex Fincher, Randi Spencer and Rebecca Harrison each turned in rides that scored better than 80 points on the flat. Spencer's score of 91 trumped the 88 her counterpart Kamerra Brown scored on the same horse, giving SFA a 3-0 sweep in the points and earning event MVP honors for Spencer. Fincher's ride scored an 89, and Harrison turned in an 81-point performance. SFA won the flat competition with a cumulative score of 261-226.
The Ladyjacks opened the show in strong fashion, taking two of three head-to-head points in the over-fences competition. Spencer also led SFA in this department, tying with Brown for the high-point ride at 84. Alex Berry just missed the 80-piont mark with her score of 79, and Kristin Landes posted a solid 75 to win her head-to-head point. The Ladyjacks won the over-fences portion by a cumulative count of 238-156.
SFA (2-1) will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 28, when the Ladyjacks head to Dallas to take on SMU in the first of three road shows to close out the fall schedule.
