
`Jacks Eighth After First Day at Mid Pines

SOUTHERN PINES, NC - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team is tied for eighth after shooting a 580 on the first day of action at the Mid Pines Intercollegiate in Southern Pines, N.C. SFA started the day tied for 15th after an opening round 295, but battled back in the second round after shooting a 285 to surge into the field's top 10.
The `Jacks were led by Brian Grossman who shot a six-under-par 138 (70-68 - 138) to finish tied for third. Josh Irving was six strokes back with an even par 144. Irving enters the final round of competition tied for 24th. Jason Landry is currently tied for 56th overall with a two-round score of 78-70 - 148. Spencer Hutton is only two strokes back of Landry with an opening day score of 76-74 - 150. Ryan Salinas is currently fifth for the `Jacks after shooting an 83-79 - 162 on Monday.
The Lumberjacks return to action Tuesday morning to close out the Mid Pines Intercollegiate.
