
SFA Finishes 10th at Mid-Pines Intercollegiate

SOUTHERN PINES, NC - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team wrapped up the Mid Pines Intercollegiate Tuesday with a third-round score of 288. The `Jacks finished in 10th place at the event, led by senior Brian Grossman, who turned in a fifth-place individual performance.
Grossman shot a one-under 71 in Tuesday's final round to finish tied for fifth at 7-under for the tournament, three shots back of individual medalist Chadd Cocco. Grossman shot a 70 in the opening round Monday morning, then carded a 68 in Round 2 Monday evening.
Freshman Josh Irving shot a final-round 72 to finish at even par for the tournament. He opened with a 71 and shot a 73 for the second round. Senior Jason Landry shot a 71 on Tuesday and finished at 3-over.
Junior Spencer Hutton's final-round 77 left him with an overall score of 227, and junior Ryan Salinas carded a 74 on Tuesday to finish the tournament with a final score of 236.
The Lumberjacks' next action will be at the ULM Intercollegiate. The tournament, hosted by Louisiana-Monroe, is slated to get underway Sept. 25 in Monroe, La.
