
`Jacks Add 11th NCAA Division I-A Transfer

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team added safety Freddie Parish IV to its roster announced head coach Robert McFarland Wednesday afternoon. Parish comes to SFA from Notre Dame where he spent the first two years of his career.
The Redondo Beach, Calif., native becomes the 11th NCAA Division I-A transfer the `Jacks roster this fall was pushing for a starting role at either safety or nickelback coming out of the spring. He played in all 12 games last season earning a start against Southern California. He finished the season with 18 tackles, including 10 solo stops. He led the team with seven tackles the Irish's game against Washington. During his two seasons with Notre Dame, Parish played in 21 games, recording 24 tackles, including 14 unassisted.
Parish was one of the top athletes in country coming out of high school. He earned SuperPrep and PrepStar All-America honors and was ranked 72nd nationally on the Sporting News Hot 100 list. He was also ranked 93rd nationally by the TheInsiders.com and was considered the No. 1 safety in the West by PacWest Football.com. Parish was considered the nation's 12th-best safety by CBS SportsLine.com.
The `Jacks return to the practice field Thursday for a 9 a.m., workout. Practices are free and open to the public.
