PLANO, Texas -- Trevor Sauntry was one of five Southland Conference golfers named to the 2005 All-SLC First Team unit in a release from the SLC office earlier this week. Sauntry wrapped up his SFA career last week with a top-20 showing at the SLC Championships in Kingwood.
Joining Sauntry on the first team unit are Jordan Krantz and Tyrone Mordt of UT-Arlington, Dawie VanDerWalt of Lamar and Tim Kunick of UL-Monroe.
Krantz was voted the SLC Player of the Year after helping UTA to the SLC tourtnament title and also claimed medalist honors with a three round total, 208. Krantz shot 69-70-69 for the win.
Sauntry was tied for the first round lead after an opening 69 at the SLC Championships, but faltered in the second and third rounds to finish in a tie for 16th.
The Missouri City senior won the Sam Houston Invitational earlier this spring and also tied for top spot honors at the Diet Pepsi / Shocker Classic in Wichita, Kan., but lost in a playoff.
Dustin Byrd, a senior from Mansfield, was an honorable mention selection in the vote of conference head coaches and sports information directors.
