Lumberjacks Lead At Shocker Classic

WICHITA, Kan. -- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team shot rounds of 286-298 Monday in the first day of the Diet Pepsi / Shocker Classic hosted by Wichita State, and lead the event by six shots heading into Tuesday's final 18-holes of play.
Four the Lumberjacks' five golfers enter the final round in the top-10 individually heading into Tuesday's round. Trevor Sauntry is tied for the tournament lead following rounds Monday of 69-73 for a two under par total of 142. Brian Grossman is alone in fourth place with 71-74, 145. Dustin Byrd is tied for fifth at 147 following rounds of 70-77, while Jeremy Ice is three shots back ina tie for ninth place at 150 (76-74). James McLeod rounds out the SFA five with rounds of 77-86.
Tuesday's rounds were played in strong winds which are expected to continue Tuesday. SFA's opening round 286 was seven shots better that Oklahoma Christian's total of 293. Those were the only two teams under 300 in round one. SFA shot 298 in round two Monday afternoon, which was one shot behind Oklahoma Christian's 297. Those were the only two teams under 300 in the second round as well.
Round three begins Tuesday morning at Wichita Country Club.
