
Softball Splits With Nicholls State

THIBODAUX, La. -- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team (12-20, 4-13) earned a split with the Nicholls State Colonels (12-24, 7-11) Saturday afternoon in Thibodaux. SFA won game one by a 7-5 count, but fell in game two by a 5-2 final.
The Ladyjacks scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning and held a 1-0 lead into the second before Nicholls State answered with a three run second to go up by a 3-1 margin. SFA answered with a six run third inning for go up 7-3 and held on for the win.
Traci Moore (3-5) was the only SFA pitcher to work more than two innings in game one, working 2.1 innings and allowing three runs on only one hit. She picked up the win for the Ladyjacks in game one. Kaitlin Morrison, Julie Morse and Nicole Carter scattered five hits, allowing two runs over the final four and two-thirds innings in relief.
Tara Hersey and Lee Lara were the only Ladyjacks with more than one hit as both went 2-4 in game one with an RBI and a run scored. Nicole Carter and Jessica Tullos also picked RBI for SFA in the win.
Moore (3-6) took the loss in game two as she went 2.0 innings and allowed one run on three hits. SFA was held to only four hits in the second game as Tullos went 2-3 with an RBI. Carter and Hersey had the other two hits for the Ladyjacks.
The series concludes with a single game Sunday afternoon.
