PLANO, Texas - Louisiana-Monroe's Tim Kunick and Stephen F. Austin's Trevor Sauntry each won individual medalist honors at a tournament over the past week on their way to being named co-Southland Conference men's golfers of the week. Following is a look at their performances.
Southland Conference Men's Co-Golfers of the Week
Tim Kunick, Louisiana-Monroe, Jr., Bismark, N.D. -- Kunick won the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by Southeastern Louisiana. He recorded a 72-71-74 -- 217 to edge out Louisiana Tech's Preston Smith by two strokes. The Indians won the team title with a three-round total of 891 and all five golfers finishing in the top 25.
Trevor Sauntry, Stephen F. Austin, Sr., Missouri City, Texas -- Sauntry won the Sam Houston State Bearkat Classic with a 69-73-72--214 to help SFA (885) to a second-place team showing behind McNeese State (875). Sauntry beat Brian Norman of Southern Illinois by one stroke, shooting one-over par for the tournament. He came back a couple days later to finish 17th at the SLU Intercollegiate by carding an 81-77-71--229 as SFA finished sixth among 12 teams. He was 13 over par with his best round being a one-under 71 in the final round.
