NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team improved to 4-3 overall Tuesday night with an impressive 80-45 victory over Arkansas-Little Rock in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. It marked the third consecutive victory for the Ladyjacks.
The Trojans led 4-2 early on, but that was as close as they would get to victory as SFA dominated the game on both ends of the floor. The Ladyjacks were 32-of-66 (.485) from the floor while forcing UALR into 21 turnovers and a 17-of-53 shooting performance. SFA also dominated the glass by out rebounding the Trojans, 44-29.
Junior Evelyn Edwards sparked a 31-4 second-half run by SFA with her career-high 13 points and team-high five rebounds. She was 5-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Edwards was one of three Ladyjacks to finish in double figures as seniors LaToya Mills and Britany Vinson each added 10 points.
SFA did a great job of spreading around the wealth Tuesday night as 12 of the 13 players that entered the game scored and all 13 grabbed at least one rebound. Junior Charity Egenti came off the bench to score eight points and grab five rebounds.
The Trojans were led by Heather Morris and Jocelyn Love who each scored 15 points, but they received little help from their teammates. The rest of the UALR team combined for only 15 points.
The Ladyjacks return to action Thursday when they travel to Austin, Texas, to face the Longhorns. The game is slated to tip off at 7 p.m., from the Frank Erwin Center.
