Lumberjacks to Compete in Battle of the Bend

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team will wrap up its fall schedule this week in Many, La. when it competes in the 2005 Battle of the Bend, hosted by the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. The event is scheduled for three rounds over three days, beginning Monday at the Cypress Bend Golf Club.
Seniors Brian Grossman and Jason Landry, sophomore Chad Spencer and freshmen Josh Irving and Johnathan Porter will represent SFA in the 13-team tournament. The field includes Centenary, Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette, McNeese State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, Rice, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas State, Texas-Pan American and Tulane.
First-round play is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Monday.
