
Lumberjacks Host Texas State Saturday on Fox Sports Southwest

NACOGDOCHES - BOBCATS HEAD TO NACOGDOCHES FOR SENIOR DAY SHOWDOWN: The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will look to make it two wins in a row over top-25 teams when No. 7 Texas State comes to Nacogdoches Saturday. The Bobcats enter the contest with a 7-2 (.777) overall record and are tied atop the Southland Conference with a 3-1 (.750) mark. The Lumberjacks come into Saturday's game with a 5-4 (.556) overall mark and after defeating No. 21 UC Davis, 27-17, last week in Homer Bryce Stadium. The game against the Bobcats is slated to kick off at 1 p.m., and will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
SFA vs. THE BOBCATS: The Lumberjacks trail the all-time series to Texas State, 27-50-1 (.474), but SFA has won three of the last four and eight of the last 12 versus the Bobcats dating back to the 1993 season. The 'Jacks are 13-7 (.650) against Texas State in Nacogdoches dating back to 1965. The 'Jacks lost the annual battle to the Bobcats, 17-14, last season in San Marcos. The following is a look at the last 10 meetings between the two schools:
LAST TIME vs. THE BOBCATS: The Lumberjacks had a three-game win streak over the Bobcats snapped last season, as Texas State recorded a 17-14 victory in San Marcos. The 'Jacks suffered their worst offensive output of the season, finishing the game with only 228 yards of total offense, including a meager 24 rushing yards and only 11 first downs. After posting 14 points in the second quarter to take a 14-10 halftime lead, SFA was shut out in the second half as Texas State rallied for the victory. Quarterback Michael Williams finished the game completing 13-of-18 passes for 150 yards and one touchdown. He also led the team with seven carries for 13 yards. Miguel Toulon caught seven passes for 119 yards.
