MONROE, La. - The Stephen F. Austin golf team had a strong second day to overtake the leader and win the ULM/Fred Marx Invitational Tuesday afternoon under the direction of first-year assistant coach Rob Meyers. SFA finished the invitational with a three-round score of 300-290-291--881.
Trevor Sauntry led the Lumberjacks with a one-over par 217 (73-71-73). Dustin Byrd was just two strokes off Sauntry's pace with a 75-70-74--219. Jeremy Ice had a strong final round shooting a two-under par 70 to finish tied for seventh with a 76-73-70--219. Brian Grossman finished tied for 27th overall shooting a 76-77-74--227. Chad Spencer finished 11 strokes back of Grossman with an 82-76-80--238.
The Lumberjack golf team will be back in action Monday Oct. 11 through Tuesday Oct. 12 at the Southern-Crown Classic in Lufkin, Texas.
