
Softball Splits With Louisiana Tech

RUSTON, Louisiana -- The SFA Ladyjack softball team (16-18) split a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday in Ruston, dropping game one, 2-1 but bouncing back to win the nightcap, 3-0.
SFA scored a run in the top of the first inning of game and held a 1-0 lead until Louisiana Tech put two runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Ladyjacks managed only two hits off Tech pitching in game one. Crissy Autry started and took the loss, working 5.2 innings while allowing two runs on five hits. She walked two and struck out seven hitters.
Game two went to extra innings as neither team could push across a run through seven innings. SFA finally broke the ice with a three run eighth inning to win game two, 3-0. Chelsea Lundberg came up with a two RBI hit in the top of the eighth inning to give SFA the lead. Nicole Carter wne the distance for SFA, pitching eight shutout innings while scattering five hits.
SFA picked up seven hits in game two with Lundberg collecting two hits for SFA.
The Ladyjacks return to Southland Conference play Saturday against Texas State.
