
Ladyjacks Split with Northwestern State

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team split a doubleheader with Northwestern State Saturday afternoon at the Coy Simms Softball Complex. The Ladyjacks won a pitcher's duel in the game one, 1-0. The Demons won the second game, 3-1. The Ladyjacks are now 14-17 on the season and 5-6 in Southland Conference play.
Both teams struggled offensively in game one, as the game was scoreless heading into the bottom half of the seventh inning. SFA had runners on second and third with only one out when Ragen Rutherford laid down a bunt to score Jamie Brown.
The Ladyjacks' Crissy Autry was dominant in game one going seven innings for the victory. Autry struckout 12 batters and surrendered only two hits in the victorious effort.
A three-run third inning by Northwestern State in the second game hurt SFA, as the Ladyjacks dropped game two, 3-1. The Ladyjacks lone run came off a sacrifice fly from Carrie Woydziak, who finished the game 2-for-3.
Jamie Brown finished the afternoon going 4-for-7 at the plate with one run scored. Woydziak was 3-for-6 on the day, while Rutherford recorded two hits in six at-bats.
The Ladyjacks close out the three-game series against the Demons Sunday at 1 p.m.
