NACOGDOCHES, Texas-- Stephen F. Austin State University head football coach Mike Santiago announced today that Jeremy Davis, a senior linebacker on the Lumberjack football team, has been suspended for this week's game with Nicholls State following his involvement in a post game altercation last week.
"Our football team and coaches were embarrassed by the actions of Jeremy Davis following Saturday's game with Sam Houston. This was something we had talked about before the game and something we have discussed in the past. As a result of his actions, Jeremy will not participate in this week's game against Nicholls State," said Santiago.
"We have been in contact with Sam Houston State University looking for proactive ways to bring together the teams and universities in a way to lessen the possibilities of future problems. We want this to remain a healthy college football rivalry between two great universities and two good football programs," said Santiago.
