Softball Swept By Nicholls State

The SFA softball team fell to 25-24 overall, but more importantly 9-11 in SLC play after dropping both ends of a Southland Conference doubeheader Saturday afternoon at the Coy Simms Softball Complex.
SFA took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of game one, but saw Nicholls State come back to tie the score in the top of the fourth inning on four hits and an SFA error.
Crista Hargrove and Ragen Rutherford picked up two hits each for SFA in the opener, with Tara Hersey picking up one hit and adding an RBI. Brooke Chandler also had one RBI while going 0-2 in game one. Devin Cobb started the game and worked 3.1 innings allowing three runs on eight hits. She also added a hit and an RBI to help her cause.
The game went to extra innings before Nicholls State pushed across two runs in the top of the ninth for the win. The 'Jacks left the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth.
Game two saw the bats go silent as the 'Jacks were shut out on five hits. Nicholls State won the nightcap by a 4-0 final. Nicole Carter and Devin Cobb combined to give up four runs on seven hits, only two of the runs were earned.
The series concludes Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
