
Softball Loses Pair At LSU Tournament

The SFA softball team (2-4) dropped its third and fourth straight decisions of the 2003 season Friday afternoon on the opening day of the LSU tournament. The 'Jacks fell 1-0 to 11th ranked DePaul, then lost a 3-1 game to #9 ranked LSU Friday afternoon.
Nicole Carter (0-1) took the loss in the opening game in spite of allowing only one run, striking out six and scattering five hits. Crista Hargrove went 1-3 at the plate to lead the SFA offense.
In Friday's second game, host team LSU handed SFA a 3-1 loss, scoring three runs off starter Crissy Autry (1-3). Autry worked the first five innings allowing only one earned run and striking out three. Autry had struck out ten batters in each of her first two starts prior to Friday's meeting with LSU. Devin Cobb came on and worked two no-hit innings in relief.
Carrie Woydziak scored SFA's only run against LSU, going 1-3 at the plate. Sarah Stone was also 1-2 against the Tigers.
The 'Jacks return to action Saturday at noon as they take on Baylor, then face host LSU at 2:00 Saturday afternoon.
