NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team fell to 5-34 overall and 1-10 in Southland Conference play after dropping both ends of a conference doubleheader to Sam Houston by scores of 16-0 and 3-1. Sam Houston improves to 7-15 and 5-6 in conference play with the wins. The third and final game of the three game series is set for Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
Sam Houston pounded out 20 hits and scored 16 runs in game one off starter Devin Cobb (3-12) as Cobb went the distance for the 'Jacks. The Bearkats led 7-0 going into the top of the seventh inning before exploding for nine runs on nine hits in the frame. Chrissy Dileo and April Bardwell led the way for the Bearkats as each went 3-5. Dileo also added three RBIs on the afternoon.

SFA snapped a 36.2 inning scoreless streak in the first inning of the second game as they took a 1-0 lead when Brooke Chandler singled home B.J. Cruff who had reached base earlier in the inning on a fielder's choice. Traci Moore (2-13) made the single run stand up until the Bearkats scored a pair of runs on four hits in the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead.
Neither team managed to push across another run until Sam Houston added an insurance run in the top of the seventh. The Bearkats added an unearned run in the inning when Amber McAvoy singled to right field with two outs in the inning to make the score 3-1.
The 'Jacks threatened in their half of the seventh inning when pinch hitter Erica Henrion singled to center field. Yvette Bass then came on to run for Henrion and moved to second on a wild pitch. Bass later moved to third on a ground out, and was left stranded when Cruff grounded out to third to end the game.
