The SFA softball team saw its losing streak extended to 12 games Thursday night as Baylor handed SFA losses in both ends of a doubleheader. SFA dropped game one, 3-0 and lost in the night cap, 8-0. SFA (3-12) has lost four straight to the Lady Bears already this season. SFA will remain in Waco this weekend to participate in the Compass Bank Invitational, hosted by Baylor University.
Kristin Nolan (0-4) was tagged with the loss in game one of the doubleheader as the sophomore was tagged for three runs on nine hits in 6.0 innings of work. Baylor scored runs in the second, third and sixth innings in shutting out the 'Jacks on only two hits. SFA committed a pair of errors in the game. Baylor pitcher Katie Decker, who no-hit SFA earlier this season, gave up a single to IF Brooke Chandler in the third inning and a single in the fifth to Ragen Rutherford.
It was more of the same in game two as three Baylor pitchers combined to toss the no-no at SFA. The Ladyjacks were no-hit by Baylor for the second time this season as they lost the nightcap, 8-0. SFA did have one runner reach base on an error. Nolan (0-5) got the start in game two as well, working 2.1 innings, allowing four runs on two hits. She also walked two batters. Traci Moore worked 1.2 innings in relief and was also touched up for four runs on five hits.
Baylor scored three runs in the first inning, two of which were earned and that would prove to be all they would need as the Bears moved to 18-2 with the wins.
SFA opens play Friday in Waco in the Compass Bank Invitational.
