
Lumberjack Golf Finishes Ninth At Udamon Classic

VICTORIA, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team shot a final round 308 Tuesday at Victoria Country Club to finish in ninth place at the Udamon Classic golf tournament, hosted by Southwest Texas State University at Victoria Country Club.
Jeremy Ice, a sophomore from Pflugerville, led the way for SFA, posting his first ever top-20 finish with rounds of 75-76-76, to finish in a tie for thirteenth place. Ice was just one stroke shy of posting a top 10 finish.
SFA entered the final round in ninth place and could not make up any ground during the final 18-holes of play. Baylor University won the event with a three round total of 885. UT-San Antonio finished second at 896 and Wichita State was third with a total of 898.
Houston freshman Trevor Sauntry and Bellville senior Jason Alexander tied for 37th with three round totals of 232. Sauntry shot 79-77-76, while Alexander posted rounds of 76-79-77 in the two day event. Rounding things out for the 'Jacks were Walt Schroeder, a junior from Pflugerville, with rounds of 78-77-79, finishing in a tie for 42nd, and Pflugerville junior Brent Gurley with rounds of 78-78-85, good for 56th.
The 'Jacks return to action next week at the UTSA Intercollegiate to be held at San Antonio's Oak Hills Country Club.
