Ladyjack Netters To Open 2002 Season

The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team kicks off the 2002 season Saturday against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The match is slated for a 2 p.m., start. SFA will follow that up with a match against Texas-Pan American Sunday at 9 a.m. Both matches will be played in Edinburg, Texas.
Ladyjack Roster The 2001-02 version of the Ladyjacks tennis team is a youthful one. In fact, the Ladyjacks return only one player from last season's 6-13 team. Sophomore Jessica Beauchene (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) is the lone returnee. The four freshmen are Melissa Bass (Arlington, Texas), Robin Houston (Shreveport, La.), Ashley Johnson (Nacogdoches, Texas) and Emily Voss (San Angelo, Texas). The three transfers are Gennan Houston (Shreveport, La.), Christine Huynh (Katy, Texas) and Sandra Wolfe (Austin, Texas).
Home Matches The Ladyjacks will play seven home matches during the 2002 season, beginning with the home opener against Centenary on Friday Mar. 1. The Ladyjacks will follow that up 24 hours later with a match against McNeese State. The Ladyjacks will be back at home on Saturday March 16, to take on Southeastern Louisiana. SFA will return to the court 24 hours later to face Nicholls State. The Ladyjacks next home match won't be until Saturday April 6, when they face Southwest Texas. The Ladyjacks will close out the short two-match homestand on Sunday April 7 against Texas-San Antonio. The Ladyjacks final home match of the season will be Monday April 15, against Louisiana Tech.
