On a rainy day in Wichita, the Lumberjack golf team ballooned to a 310 in the final round to finish in fourteenth place at the Diet Pepsi / Shocker Classic yesterday in Wichita, Kansas.
After rounds of 294-293 on the opening day of the tournament, the Lumberjack golf team did not seem to handle the adverse conditions very well in shooting 310.
Walt Schroeder fired the low round of the day for the Lumberjacks, shooting a 76 to go along with a 73 and 76 on the first day of play. Schroeder finished in a tie for 56th.
Tim Speichert and Trey Schroeder finished in a tie for 46th at the event. Speichert shot rounds of 74-73-77, to finish at 11 over par, 224 for the tournament. Trey Schroeder shot rounds of 72-74-78 to also finish at 224.
Clint Bowden shot a 79 on the final day of play to finish at 75-73-79, 227, in a tie for 66th. Mike Arnaud also shot an 83 Tuesday and finished the 54-hole event at 18 over par 231 (75-73-83).
The Lumberjacks travel to St. Francesville, Louisiana Monday for the final tournament of the spring, the Southland Conference Championships. Teams will play 18-holes each day for three days at The Bluffs on Thompson Creek, about 45 miutes north of Baton Rouge.
