The Ladyjacks came up one run short Sunday afternoon in their efforts to knock off top-25 ranked Southwest Texas. SFA dropped the third game of the three game series by a 3-2 final.
An unearned run in the third inning was the difference as Southwest Texas got a pair of runs home on a single by Elizabeth Wissel. After Wissel moved to second on a passed ball, Kristy Gandy singled to bring her home and make the score 3-0.
The Ladyjacks came right back in the top of the fourth inning, pushing across a pair of runs following lead-off walk by Angela Froboese. Kym Kling then singled. Ashley Moffett then moved both runners into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. Shannon Mori then reached on a fielder's choice with Froboese scoring on the play. Kling then scored on an error by the first baseman off the bat of Mimi Van Ryn. That was all the Ladyjacks would get however, as Southwest Texas pitchers shut down the Ladyjacks the rest of the way.
Kym Kling went five innings, allowing three runs on four hits. She walked four and struck out one. Devin Cobb came on in relief pitching one inning, not allowing a hit.
