The Ladyjack softball team opened the season in Shreveport Tuesday by sweeping an afternoon doubleheader from Centenary by scores of 9-0 and 6-2.
The Ladyjacks jumped out early on the Ladies of Centenary, scoring five runs in the first inning, highlighted by a bases loaded triple by infielder Shannon Mori. The sennior from Kingwood ended up 2 for 5 on the afternoon with five RBIs.
P Devin Cobb was in control on the mond, allowing only two hits through four innings of work.
The Ladyjacks came right back in the second game of the doubleheader as they used three pitchers to combine for the 6-2 win. Morgan Tolleson picked up the win to go to 1-0 on the season after pitching three innings and allowing one run on one hit.
Freshman Katie Taylor did the damage for SFA in game two with a three run blast in the second inning to give SFA a 3-0 lead. Taylor ended the afternoon 2 for 2 with three RBIs.
The Ladyjacks return to action later this week as they travel to Arlington to take part in the UT-Arlington tournament.
