SFA Golfers Finish 11th At SMU Tournament

McKINNEY, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team shot a final round 313 to fall to eleventh place at the SMU/Stonebridge Invitational held at McKinney's Stonebridge Country Club. Host team Southern Methodist shot rounds of 283-289-292 to claim the team title. Charleston finished seven shots back in second place with Southland Conference member school UT-Arlington finishing in third.
Tim Speichert led the way for the `Jacks finishing in the top 20 at the event after rounds of 74-71-77 for a three round total of six over par, 222. Trey Schroeder, a senior from Pflugerville, finished two shots back of Speichert in a tie for thirtieth, at eight over par, 224.
Rounding out the event for the Lumberjacks were Andy Bell with rounds of 76-74-82, Mike Arnaud at 77-78-79, and Walt Schroeder with rounds of 80-76-80.
The `Jacks will return to action later this month as they travel to Las Cruces, New Mexico to take part in the Herb Wimberley Classic hosted by New Mexico State University.
