Arkansas-Little Rock Wins Crown Classic

The University of Arkansas-Little Rock came from two shots back of the University of Texas-Arlington over the final eighteen holes to claim the team title in the annual SFA Crown Classic, held at Lufkin's Crown Colony Country Club.
The event, originally scheduled for 54-holes, was shortened to 36-holes after rain Monday afternoon, washed out the second round of play.
The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks shot rounds of 312-305 to finish 26 shots back in a tie for 13th place. SFA was led by Tim Speichert, who bounced back from an opening round 80 to shoot a two under par, 70 in the final round to finish in the top 20 in the event.
The 'Jacks had three others tie for 55th, Andy Bell (82-76), Mike Arnaud (78-80) and Walt Schroeder (79-79) all shot 158 for the tournament. Senior Trey Schroeder shot a 75 int he opening round, but struggled to a final round 86 on Tuesday to fnish in a tie for 76th.
