Matt Storm begins his sixth year as the offensive coordinator of the Lumberjack’s football program in 2023, looking to build on the progress made in his five seasons at the helm. Storm and head coach Colby Carthel improved the team in the previous five seasons and look forward to continued success in the upcoming United Athletic Conference (UAC) season.
In 2022, Storm helped the Lumberjacks secure their first WAC Football Championship, defeating Abilene Christian 24-21. Wide receiver Xavier Gipson was named WAC Offensive Player of the Year, for the second year in a row. At the end of the 2022 season, Xavier Gipson was signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent.
Storm helped lead the ‘Jacks to an 8-4 season (6-2 WAC) in 2021. He had three offensive players selected to First Team All-WAC and three players selected to the Second Team All-WAC. Three-time WAC Offensive Player of the Week wide receiver Xavier Gipson was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Year.
