Payton Foster enters her second season as the pitching coach for the Lumberjack Softball program.
In her first season, the 'Jacks pitching staff had a 3.97 ERA, ranked top four in the Southland Conference. Under her guidance, senior pitcher Alexis Telford was named SLC Pitcher of the Week on two separate occasions – 2/17 and 4/21.
Prior to SFA, Foster was a volunteer assistant coach for Oklahoma Christian University where she worked alongside the pitching coach and assisted with bullpens. During the 2024 campaign, the Eagles posted a team ERA of 3.40. Starting pitchers Jill Dickson and Grace Anderson earned All-Lone Star Conference honors, with Dickson named to the First Team and Anderson to the Third Team.
Foster played four years at the University of Texas at Tyler, where she earned multiple honors. In 2021, she was a NFCA Third Team All-American, D2CCA Honorable Mention All-American, D2CCA First Team All-South Central Region, NFCA First Team All-South Central Region, and was named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Year.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Tyler and then went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma Christian University while playing her final season.
Foster is no stranger to the Pineywoods as she is from Lufkin, TX and attended Hudson High School.
