Melanie Jaegers enters her third season with the Lumberjack Softball program. She serves as an assistant coach, working primarily with catchers. Under her guidance last season, catcher Adelyn Becerra earned 2nd Team All-SLC honors.
Prior to Nacogdoches, Jaegers worked side-by-side with current SFA Head Coach Jeff Jackson at Odessa College from the Fall of 2017 through the Spring of 2023. In her six years as assistant coach at OC, the Wranglers made three trips to the NJCAA Softball National Tournament, including two, third place finishes. Jaegers coached a total of ten All-American, 25 All-Region, and 43 All-Conference honorees. In 2019, she was named the NJCAA Division 1 Assistant Coach of the year.
Before her career at Odessa, Jaegers spent one year as Assistant Softball Coach at Western Texas College.
Jaegers is a graduate of Wichita State University, where she spent four years as a starting catcher/third baseman. In her time at WSU, she was named a 2013 NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete and a member of the 2014 All-MVC Scholar Athlete First Team. In 2014, she was named All-MVC First Team Catcher. In her senior season, 2015, Jaegers was an All-MVC First Team member once again and was also named the MVC Defensive Player of the Year in the award’s inaugural season. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Wichita State in December 2014.
She spent the 2016 season as a Graduate Manager with the team while finishing her master’s degree in Sports Management.
Jaegers is from Mesquite, Texas where she attended Horn High School and was a dual-sport athlete, playing both volleyball and softball.
Coach Jaegers lives in Nacogdoches with her wife, Christie.
