Dr. Steven Overturf joined the Stephen F. Austin State University’s sports medicine team in 2017, as one of the orthopedic specialists. As a native of New Mexico, Dr. Overturf attended and received his undergraduate degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. He then went on to graduate from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 2008. During his time at SFA, he developed an attachment to the town and decided that he would make Nacogdoches his permanent home.
Following his graduation from Texas, Dr. Overturf stayed on to complete his Orthopedic Residency with the Department of Orthopedic Surgery in Galveston. He is a current member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and the Texas Orthopedic Association as well as the Texas Medical Association. Dr. Overturf has also contributed to many publications and research in biomechanics and orthopedics in addition to being a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Surgery.
In his spare time, Dr. Overturf enjoys many outdoor activities and spends much of his free time rooting on his children in their sporting events. The Overturf family is dedicated to the well-being of the local community and looks forward to their future association with Nacogdoches and its surrounding areas.
