Melinda “Mel” Watts is the Coordinator of Clinical Education in the Graduate Athletic Training Program. She directs the clinical education for the graduate athletic training students, teaches the clinical classes in the program and oversees the preceptors in the program.
Mel received both her Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology and Masters of Science in Athletic Training from SFA. She has ten years of clinical experience as an athletic trainer with Kaufman high school in Texas. During this time, she received her Doctor of Philosophy in Athletic Training from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.
Mel is married to her husband Matthew and they have two dogs, Gus and Roux. She enjoys fishing, hunting, kayaking, reading, and spending time with friends and family. Mel is also passionate about helping provide medical care to rodeo athletes at the college and professional levels.
