Dr. Jonathan Polk, M.D. serves SFA Athletics as the General Surgeon on the Sports Medicine team. He completed his undergraduate studies at Stephen F. Austin State University. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. After graduation he completed a five year general surgery residency in Denver, Colorado.
After completing his residency he returned to his home town of Nacogdoches and opened a private general surgery practice. His specialties include general and laparoscopic surgery, gallbladder surgery, colon surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, breast cancer surgery, hernia repairs, colonoscopy and EGD’s. The American Board of Surgery certified Dr. Polk in 2009.
Dr. Polk provides ER coverage at Nacogdoches Medical Center and Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. He also operates at an outpatient facility, The Surgery Center of Nacogdoches. He strives to provide patients compassionate, competent, efficient and cost effective care.
Dr. Polk and his wife, Anna Palm Polk, have three children, Vivienne, Jonathan and Lillian.
