Cameron Rogers is entering his sixth season with the Lumberjacks football team. Cameron Rogers played under Coach Carthel while he was at Texas A&M-Commerce where he was an all-conference selection for four years.
2022: Helped the Lumberjacks secure its first Conference Championship in over a decade. Coaching Jermaine Brown to a Second Team All-WAC team. Where the team finished 1st in the conference in Third Down Defense (17th in FCS) & takeaways. 2nd in Total Defense/Game & Rushing TD’s Allowed. Nationally the Jacks ranked 17th in Third Down %, 16th in Conversion Down %.
Coordinated the Kickoff Unit to finished as a top Special Teams Unit in FCS finishing ranked #3 in the country according to CAI Statistics Total Kickoff and 1st in the WAC.
2021: Through his time thus far at SFA, he has coached 5 All-Conference recipients, including 3 First Teamers. Both Brevin Randle & Bert Morris were First Team All WAC, being the only position group on the defensive side to have 2 First Team players from the same position group.
After ranking near the bottom of the NCAA in total defense prior to the Carthel staff’s arrival in Nacogdoches, the Lumberjacks ranked 15th nationally in that category in 2021. SFA also ranked in the top 20 in the nation in scoring defense (17th), Rushing Defense (19th), Pass Defense Efficiency (14th), Third down defense (18th), and Turnovers gained (16th). SFA ranked in the top 5 nationally in sacks (3rd) and tackles for loss (5th).
SFA ranked No. 1 in the WAC in Scoring Defense, Total Defense, Takeaways, Sacks and Opponent Third Down Conversion Percentage. SFA posted an 8-4 with close losses to FBS Texas Tech and No. 1 ranked Sam Houston State (L, 21-20). The Lumberjacks fell 35-28 in overtime to Incarnate Word during the First Round of the Playoffs.
2020: Concluding the 2019 season, Rogers was promoted from a Defensive Quality Control role to full-time Linebackers coach. SFA finished 6-4 with the four losses all coming from FBS opponents. Rogers coached the 2020 Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Brevin Randle.
SFA ranked No. 2 in the Southland Conference in scoring defense and total defense and No. 1 in pass defense efficiency, interceptions and takeaways.
2019: Was brought to SFA after Colby Carthel’s Arrival to assume a Defensive Quality Control role. Worked directly with the Linebackers & Recruiting.
Texas A&M University - Commerce:
2018: Rogers resumed the same roles and duties under new Defensive Coordinator, Scott Power. Where he coached an All-Conference Jalen-Edwards Cooper, who then went on to play & start for multiple years at DB in the CFL.
2017: Immediately after playing, Rogers became a Graduate Assistant on the Defensive side of the ball for Justin Deason responsible for coaching the Sam/Nickel positions, as well as Long/Short Snappers. In his first year he was responsible for coaching All-Conference players Mark Westbrook & Travon Blanchard, contributing to a National Championship.
2013 - 2016: Was a member of Colby Carthel’s very first signing class when named Head Coach at Commerce in 2013. Rogers tenure at Commerce included: starting as a true freshman at Middle Linebacker in the inaugural season, then continued to be a four-time All-Conference player at both Linebacker & Long Snapping for the Lions. Named Team Captain & the J.V. Sykes Award Recipient for the 2016 season, along with winning the LSC Championship three years in a row (2014, 2015, 2016)
Personal: Born January 24, 1995 in San Antonio, TX. Son of Kevin and Jacqueline Rogers … youngest brother of 3 whose older brother Cody played Defensive End at UTSA & oldest brother, Kevin Rogers, played Linebacker at Texas State. Three-year letter winner and starter at San Antonio Brandeis. Tallied over 250 tackles his Junior and Senior years. Three-time First Team All-District, two-time All-City selection in San Antonio and 2nd Team All State as a senior. Two-year letter winner in soccer as well.
