Ivan Canete enters his second year as a graduate assistant for the Lumberjacks. Before joining the coaching staff Canete played collegiate basketball at SFA from 2014-2018. In his senior year he won the Lou Henson Award Player of the Week and the Southland Conference Player of the Week. He drilled 44.4-percent (104-of-234) of his field goals, 41.5-percent (49-of-118) of his three-point field goals and 77.9-percent (60-of-77) of his free throws. Canete led the team, ranked 10th in the Southland Conference and 111th among all NCAA Division I basketball players in steals per game, and led the team, ranked eighth in the Southland and 97th nationally with 53 total steals. He also ranked second on the team and third in the Southland Conference in three-point field goal percentage and ranked second on the team and 12th in the Southland Conference in assists per game.
