FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO I MAKE A GIFT TO THE VARSITY CLUB?
Making a gift to the Varsity Club is extremely easy. You can make it by phone by calling 936-468-7105, online, or by mail at:
SFA Intercollegiate Athletics
WHEN IS MY ANNUAL DONATION DUE?
In order to receive recognition in the football game program, donors must have their donations given in full by July 15.
HOW WILL MY DONATION BE USED?
Every donation given to the Varsity Club will be utilized in the area of greatest need as determined by the athletic director and the head coach of each sport program, unless otherwise designated. Private funding from the Varsity Club is necessary to address fundamental program and departmental needs such as summer scholarship funding, equipment needs, travel and food expenses and facility upgrades.
HOW DO I RECEIVE VARSITY CLUB MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS?
Join the Varsity Club at any of the available levels to receive benefits commensurate with your gift amount.
WHY ARE THE COST OF TICKETS DEDUCTED FROM MY VARSITY CLUB DONATION?
Due to NCAA compliance regulations, tickets cannot be tax deductible and therefore do not apply to the Varsity Club as a donation. Rather, the price of tickets taken out of your donation is classified as a sale and is accounted for as ticket revenue to the department of athletics.
CAN I MAKE MULTIPLE PAYMENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR?
Yes. Monthly payments are a great way to break up the cost of giving while committing a larger gift to the Varsity Club. Make sure your payments are completed or have at least covered the desired level of Varsity Club membership in order to receive benefits and/or ticket allotment.
IF I GIVE TO A SPECIFIC SPORT, AM I STILL A MEMBER OF THE VARSITY CLUB?
Of course! Any contribution to the Varsity Club or a specific sport fund makes you a member of the Varsity Club.
WHAT IS A MATCHING GIFT?
Many employers are willing to match charitable donations made by their employees. Check with your Human Resources professional for matching gift information and what the process may require. SFA can provide assistance with completing the necessary forms from your employer.
