SFA wins fourth-straight game, improves to 9-1 in SLC play
THIBODAUX, La. – Chrishawn Christmas delivered his second double-double of the season with ten points and 14 rebounds, Keon Thompson recorded his seventh 20-point game of the game on an efficient night from the floor and Ahamed Mohammed scored a season-high 15 points to help lead Stephen F. Austin to a 79-62 win over Nicholls on Monday night inside David R. Stopher Gymnasium. The victory is the fourth straight for the Jacks who improved to 9-1 in Southland Conference play.
Christmas corralled 14 of SFA's 41 boards, the most rebounds by a Lumberjacks this season, Thompson finished 8-of-10 from the floor and knocked down a pair of three-point attempts, while Mohammed hit a season-best trio of threes and Jerald Colonel went for eight points and eight rebounds.
A hot shooting first half staked the Jacks to a 21-point lead at the intermission. SFA shot as high as 63% during the opening twenty minutes before the clip settled at 53% overall with a 50% effort in 14 attempts from beyond-the-arc. Leading the attack from range was Narit Chotikavanic and Mohammed who each knocked down a pair of triple tries as the Jacks led by as much as 25 points in the first half.
The Jacks led wire-to-wire in the win with the Colonels pulling as close as 15 points in the second half. SFA cooled from the floor in the second half but sank 10-of-14 from the stripe to keep the host at bay in the second half.
