'Jacks Anderson Set for Action at Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics

Taylor, Texas native scheduled for five events in Japan over next 11 days
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin junior track and field student-athlete Jarvis Anderson is back on the international stage as the Taylor, Texas native is in Tokyo for this year's Deaflympics, an international multi-sport event for deaf athletes held every four years and organized by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD). This year's competition is the 100th anniversary of the inaugural Deaflympics held in Paris, France in 1924, and it marks the first time the competition will be held in Japan.
Anderson, who most recently competed for the Lumberjacks at the NCAA West Regional this past May in College Station, is set to compete in five events: 110m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, 4x100m Relay, 4x400m Relay and Triple Jump.
On the international stage, Anderson has staked claim to ten medals including four during his last Deaflympics appearance in 2022 which was held at Caxias do Sul. Last year at the World Championships in Taipei, Anderson made the podium seven times with gold medals in the 110m Hurdles, the men's 4X400m Relay and the mixed 4x400m Relay.

Anderson's collegiate best in the Triple Jump stands at 51' 7" (15.72m), while his fastest 400m Hurdle effort is 50.10.
The Games are characterized by visual information & communication access utilizing starting light and flags as well as International Sign.
To participate in the Deaflympics, athletes need to meet the following criteria:
- Athletes must have a minimum hearing loss of at least 55 dB* in their better ear without any hearing aids, etc.
- Athletes must be registered with the National Deaf Sports Federation in each country, and who must meet the requirements for participation, including records and ranking.
